Into the House of Naari

Hello, my lovely readers!

Today is my birthday, and I’m really happy with the way things are going with Mirrors and Dreams. Thanks and much love to every one of you for your support! ❤

Tonight, I want to share an exciting field trip I had earlier this month. I had the fortune of being invited for a bloggers’ meet by the renowned maker of ethnic wear, the House of Naari  🙂

It didn’t take them much to convince me and I gladly jumped aboard 😀

I dressed up in a bright-coloured salwaar kameez and embellished footwear for the day. I kept my makeup minimal (as I usually like it 😉 ). Take a look:
IMG_20151024_112910509IMG_20151024_112648929IMG_20151024_112413859We reached the Naari production unit after a brief train journey to Boisar. The travel was short and fun, and I spent time chatting with our friendly hosts. Upon reaching the unit, we were greeted with a breakfast buffet. I gorged on Aloo Parathas (Indian bread with flavoured potato filling) like there’s no tomorrow  😀

Post breakfast was the bloggers’ conference. The CEO of Naari, Arjun introduced us to the brand and the Head Designer of Naari, Fatema unveiled their fresh collection. You can see her take the floor below:

She introduced us to their latest Festive line, filled with folk motifs, lush colours and varying textures that suit different moods.

You can see the vibrant rabadi folk embroidery on the kurtas below:

We also saw some gorgeous Madhubani embroidery on the kurtas, replete with Madhubani motifs like fish, flowers and birds. Pictures below:IMG_20151024_115714909IMG_20151024_115832348

A particular collection called Tree of Life grabbed eyeballs. It was characterised by symbols like tendrils, birds, trees and ,mesmerising ombre colour schemes 🙂
IMG_20151024_115948494

We also saw some casual cotton kurtas for daily wear. They were clean, light and sophisticated 🙂

This one was my favourite from the cotton line ❤IMG_20151024_120858306

Overall, I was quite impressed with this collection for the simple reasons that the clothing is vibrant, suits every occasion and is budget-friendly 😎
IMG_20151024_120955119From embroidery to ombre, Naari has used a spectrum of techniques to create unique products. For example, this digital print dupatta with an unstitched Lucknowi embriodered kurta:

We also took a look at their collection of handbags, and these sling bags were my favourites!

During my chat with Arjun, he revealed that long before Naari was born in 2008, they have been supplying fabric to top brands like H&M, Only, Zara and Vero Moda for decades. Filled with ideas and fervour about the upcoming collections, Arjun was fun to talk to!IMG_20151024_124456677
The conference was followed by a first-hand tour of the factory by Arjun. I CANT EXPLAIN HOW AMAZING IT WAS!

These embroidery machines were 22 metres long, and with 2 frames, they produce 44 metres of garment in one go! 😮

Look at this sequin work that happens side by side with the embroidery:

The Tree of Life in the production stage:IMG_20151024_141606404A little souvenir from the Naari factory! 🙂IMG_20151024_133902455

IMG_20151024_135350800I was amazed at the sheer brilliance of the production unit! EVERYTHING is produced from scratch, including the fabric and the sequins! You can see sequins in production below:IMG_20151024_135322291We also took a tour of the quality check unit, where every inch of fabric is screened for defects, and every fabric sample goes through TEN quality checks:
IMG_20151024_135656757And finally, the packaging:IMG_20151024_141129955

Look at the various kinds of white garment fabrics I spotted across the factory ❤IMG_20151024_132847777IMG_20151024_133049045IMG_20151024_134215361IMG_20151024_135727109
I was simply stunned by this force called Naari. I am thankful to them for giving me glimpses into their intricate workings and the hard work that goes into producing every garment! You can browse their collection here and follow them on Facebook!

Watch this space for an upcoming shoot with Naari 😉

Until then, love from Shruti xx

After a long break, I’m back with a fashion post!

How do you like this shift dress? 🙂

This is again, a thrifted dress 😀 (Gosh, I love thrifted stuff). I paired the dress with heels and a clutch-cum-sling bag!

This lovely dress is very simple and yet, very striking! So I kept the look very clean and minimalist, without any bling 🙂

IMG_20150810_143931607-01

Since this shift dress is colorful, I decided to play up one color, that is, blue. I got these blue wedges from Pune (FC Road, I think!) and the chic blue sling-cum-clutch from Jabong.

IMG_20150810_145453310-01

I opted for black winged eyeliner and bright pink lips, and my Tissot watch and tiny black ear studs completed the look!

Formal Lunch and Casual Hangout Outfit

Hey guys! ❤

A few days back, I shared the Fresh Summer Look with you. Today, I’ll share details of the full outfit! 🙂

IMG_20150515_133351

So for my makeup, I kept it light and fresh. I used a sunblock, covered it with compact and then started with the eye makeup. I used the basic chubby stick kajal from Lakme for my waterline, and a waterproof kajal from Revlon for my lids. I also used Maybelline‘s Hyper Curl Volum Express waterproof mascara on my lashes.

I wore my favourite red lip colour from TommyG cosmetics. They are a Greek brand and the product is AMAZING! The lip color has really high coverage. I have pigmented lips and they cover it up in just one swipe! You can apply 2 coats for a more vibrant colour. It also stays on for 5-6 hours easily without reapplication, WITH food and drinks!

The full outfit:

PixlrIMG_20150513_135927644_HDR

I kept the accessories to a minimum. Wore small black stud earrings, a medallion necklace and a turquoise beaded bracelet. I kept my nails clean and fresh with just a clear polish ❤

I kept a pair of reflective aviators handy as it was a sunny day 🙂

Pixlr2IMG_20150513_135403514_HDR

My top was a formal white one, with no embellishments or print. I paired it with plain black leggings and white, basket weave flats. I also carried a gunmetal grey hangbag 🙂

This outfit can be worn to the office, especially on casual Fridays. It is also perfect for formal lunches, and as evening wear if you’d like to head out for drinks after work. If you’re not a fan of bright red lips, you can even rock this look with your favourite shade of pink or coral! So, what do you think? 🙂

Fresh Summer Look

Hi people! ❤

Today, I decided to keep things understated and yet, striking. I kept the make up minimal and focused only on the eyes and lips. No eye shadow, no contouring! So this is how I looked today! 🙂

IMG_20150515_133351

For my eyes, I used ONLY kajal (kohl) – I’m a little afraid of liquid liners! 😛

Also, I kept my nails fresh and clean with a clear polish.

IMG_20150515_135247129

I paired this look with a formal white top, black leggings and gunmental grey leather handbag. Detailed post and pictures of my full outfit coming up tomorrow! 😀
