Let’s Spruce Up!

Hello ladies!

Today I have something different, but exciting for you. Hope you’ll like it! 😉

I’ve realised that being a blogger, I have to be on the lookout for cool new stuff. Today I bring you an online portal which is going to be very helpful to me, and hopefully you will love it, too!

I recently moved to New Delhi from Mumbai. It’s a new house and I’ve been looking for ideas to decorate and furnish my bedroom.

I stumbled upon this website called homify which is full of excellent ideas for home décor.

homify

Homify is like the pinterest of home décor! 😀

There are many, many categories that you can browse – from the dining space and dressing room to bathrooms!

But today, I am focusing on my bedroom 🙂

According to me, the bedroom is perhaps the most important part of the house. Every part of the house as well as the outdoors are important, but the bedroom is the heart of it. It can reflect who you are and should be your place of comfort and escape!

bedrooms

I personally don’t like to have a television in the bedroom because then you tend to only watch TV and kinda forget your hobbies like reading, exercise or cooking.

So what do we start the decor with? The color scheme and aesthetics, of course!

You can opt for an exclusive theme / color scheme for your bedroom, or use the same one as the rest of your house. I love a bare look, so I’d go for all white, with well-polished mahogany furniture. I’m not sure about this idea but I’m still putting it out there – a statement wall, that is, one wall of my bedroom should be a rich color, splashed with a lovely pattern and adorned with edgy ornaments. I’m currently dreaming of a combination of a navy blue wall with silver filigree pattern and blackened silver art pieces to add a bohemian touch. I also wish to have a couple of potted plants to make the room feel fresh and vibrant!

After browsing on homify, I also found that they have a number of themes that I really liked, ranging from colonial to vibrant to modern and minimal.

Let’s explore a couple of them, shall we?

Thane Apartment. : Modern bedroom by The design house

Master Suite : Modern bedroom by Savio and Rupa Interior Concepts

Loft : Minimalist bedroom by GDKdesigns

Eclectic style bedroom by Kabaz

I hope you found my ideas useful! I’ve been looking for ideas to spruce up my place and make it lively. Do let me know if you have any other ideas 😀

Until next time,

Premium Laundry Services Are Here!

Hello, my dear readers!

How many of you are fussy about your laundry like me? 😛

I always prefer washing my clothes by hand, with a gentle liquid detergent. I don’t even trust washing machines to do the job well! But with a hectic job, it’s tough to always find time for the chore; my clothes end up piling up 😦

Recently, I learnt about a new laundry service called Mink.

I received the offer to get any three items laundered by Mink in exchange for an honest review. I am excited to share my experience with you guys 😀

So, I sent across an AND dress, a prized sari (raw silk with zari work) of mine and a precious rug which had gotten stained. I forgot to take pictures of the dress and sari before I sent it to the Mink team but I remembered to click the carpet 😛

Look at that patch on top, off-centre. I wanted this cleaned so I could store it properly, but I couldn’t figure out where or when to get it cleaned. Mink’s timing couldn’t have been better! 😀

So, the process began. The pickup was quite smooth and efficient. An executive from Mink collected my items and gave me a receipt.IMG_20151016_212057943

After 3 days – which I felt was a long wait – I received a call informing me that my stuff was ready to be delivered. The coordination was very efficient! I got held up at work and the Mink executive was gracious enough to delay his visit for my convenience 🙂

I was pleasantly surprised when I received my laundered stuff neatly folded and presented in Mink’s branded packaging ❤

I’ll just sum up by saying that these premium laundry services seem like a boon. There are many other like me, who are very particular about their clothes but are not able to give it time. With Mink’s efficient pickup-and-drop facility and smooth communication, we can goodbye to our laundry hassles! 😎

Top Grossing Movies of Last 6 Decades

Hello people!

Today I bring you, the highest grossing Bollywood movies of the last six decades. I’m sure you know about most of them already! 😀

  1. 2001-10 – 3 Idiots (2009)

Earnings: 202 crore INR

At Current Rupee Value (CRV): 280.78 crore INR

All izz well with 3 Idiots. This movie talks about the pressure faced by students in their endeavours to live up to parents’ expectations. No wonder this movie had a huge following in populous countries like China (Yes, I asked strangers on Omegle 😛 ) and India where getting into a reputed engineering college parallels Nirvana!

  1. 1991-2000 – Hum Aapke Hain Koun (1994)

Earnings: 69.75 crore INR

At CRV: 229.47 crore INR

The Salman Khan, before he started kicking villains into the stratosphere, was a family guy.  This movie had a big, happy family, lots of sanskar, and you guessed it right, Alok Nath! In fact, this movie was a handbook to Indian family, marriage and traditions 😉

  1. 1981-90 – Maine Pyar Kiya (1989)

Earnings: 14 crore INR

At CRV: 73.92 crore INR

This decade was perhaps the dry era of Bollywood. Amitabh Bachchan’s star was fading and no other superstar was in sight. That’s when Sooraj Barjatya gave us this movie with the right doses of dosti, pyaar, sanskaar and Alok Nath!

Ps. let’s not forget Salman’s dancing skills 😉

  1. 1971-80 – Sholay (1975)

Earnings: 15 crore INR

At CRV: 193.35 crore INR

Two conmen (best friends Jai and Viru), summoned by a self-righteous former cop to kill a notorious dacoit. This was the epic Sholay. With a stellar cast, this is probably the only movie where the side characters became just as famous. Samba, Kalia, Thakur and Dhanno (yes!) are legends today.

  1. 1961-70 – Sangam (1964)

Earnings: 4 crore INR

At CRV: 156.6 crore INR

You may not have heard about this movie, but Sangam was the big daddy of love triangles, made by the big daddy of Indian cinema, Raj Kapoor. Foreign locations, romance, huge budget and a long running time – it all began with Sangam!

  1. 1951-60 – Mughal-E-Azam (1960)

Earnings: 5.5 crore INR

At CRV: 253.5 crore INR

Although apparently historically inaccurate, Mughal-e-azam was the most opulent, extravagant and larger-than-life movie ever created. Such was the scale that it took 16 years to be made. Here’s a gif to sum up the movie the best.

Akbar was pissed and Anarkali couldn’t care less 😉
