10 Things To Do For The Best Workout

So you’ve paid the gym membership, watched Rocky Lara Croft 4 times, bought protein supplements and changed your Whatsapp status to “At the gym”. Now what? Today, I’m listing some Do’s and Don’ts of gymming which will ensure a good workout for you (and others). Let’s get cracking!

  1. Get a Good Pair of Running Shoes

Carry these shoes to the gym and change there. The point being, the gym must be a dustless environment and besides, no one wants to see that chewing gum on your sole while you are busy doing leg extensions.

  1. Don’t Repeat Gym Clothes

So you’ve had a strenuous workout and got drenched in sweat. You go home and dry that tshirt and there is no odour next day. DO NOT WEAR THAT TSHIRT TO THE GYM! As soon as you sweat for a second time, you will become a weapon of mass destruction.

  1. Powder your Feet and Change your Socks Before Every Workout. Enough said.
  2. Stay Hydrated

Have water in the breaks between sets. First things first, staying hydrated is important. During workout, your body needs energy and there will be times when your body will start burning muscle for energy. Having water will prevent that to an extent.

  1. Pop a Mint Whenever your Mouth is Dry

After a serious workout, you are dehydrated and your mouth is dry. At this point, you WILL have bad breath. Save yourself the embarrassment and others the torment, and have a mint.

  1. Always Maintain Proper Form

Remember that it’s about how you lift, than how much you lift. A bench press with 10 pounds and proper form will give you more gains than lifting 40 pounds with an improper posture. Always ask your trainer to demonstrate the correct form before you try anything.

  1. Don’t Work Out for More Than an Hour in One Session

Anabolic (muscle building/toning) = good and catabolic (muscle destruction) = bad. Our body is designed to work at an extreme (anabolic state) for an hour, beyond which the body goes into catabolic mode and starts burning muscle instead of carbohydrates and that is definitely not what you want.

  1. Supplement your Diet with Fibres and Vitamins

It’s not only about egg whites and chicken breasts (read ‘proteins’); your body needs roughage and fibres for proper functioning of the digestive system. Also, when your body is burning those carbohydrates, it creates “pollutants” which have a muscle-diminishing effect. Vitamins counter these pollutants.

  1. Get Rest

Remember, it’s not during the workout but during the rest that your body tones/builds muscles. The pump that you see during the workout is just lactic acid produced during workout. But the actual muscle density increases when your body repairs your muscles during sleep.

These are the commandments that every beginner should follow to make their gymming experience a pleasant one. Proper hygiene, diet, form and rest will definitely give you the gains for which you decided to work out in the first place. And if you wondered why the list ended at an awkward number 9, the 10th commandment is the most important.

  1. Stay Motivated!

BeautyWish Holiday Primp Box Review

Hi guys!

Today, I’m reviewing two of the six products that I received in my Holiday Primp BeautyWish Box for May. The Cool Cucumber Face Wash (20ml) from Aquaspark and the Red & Green Tea Sun Screen Lotion (20ml) from Starrize. 🙂

IMG_20150603_153351860

First, the Face Wash. You only need a small amount. The consistency is not too thick or too runny. I like the balanced consistency! It has a hydrating cucumber smell that I found very refreshing!

IMG_20150603_153022401

It washed right off without much hassle. My face felt very fresh and my skin seemed supple and hydrated. This face wash will suit all skin types! This will be great specially for people with acne problems and oily skin (like me) 😀IMG_20150603_153911491

Next is the Sun Screen Lotion. The consistency is thicker than the face wash but not too much. I found this lotion a little sticky.

IMG_20150603_153745755

Upon application, this lotion felt a little heavy on my skin. I have oily skin, so this is definitely not a good choice for me 😦

This sun screen is good for dry to normal skin 🙂

So what do you think? Will you be purchasing these products? 🙂

I hope you liked the review and found it helpful! Stay tuned for the reviews of Sunflower Body Wash, Lemon Peel Body Lotion , Hibiscus Anti-Dandruff Hair Cleanser and Vitamin Hair Conditioner.

BeautyWish May Box – Holiday Primp!

Hey guys! ^^’

Today I’ll be giving you the details of this month’s BeautyWish Box by The Nature’s Co. I thought my Monday will be a boring one, as I sat with my bowl of cereal. But soon, I was surprised by this box! The May box is the Holiday Primp box, and comes in a super cute travel bag! I got a pink one 🙂

BeautyWish

It is quite spacious for a travel pouch, with four little pockets AND an elastic band for holding your gloss, makeup brushes, lipsticks etc. It also has a little vanity mirror inside!

Upon unzipping the bag, I found that there were products individually bubble wrapped to prevent leakage. I really appreciate this thoughtfulness and efficiency, especially cuz one of the products had leaked a little but didn’t make a mess! 😀

For pampering my face, I received Cool Cucumber Face Wash (20ml) from Aquaspark. It has such a hydrating cucumber smell! Next is the Red and Green Tea Sun Screen Lotion (20ml) from Starrize. This lotion has a very mild fragrance.

IMG_20150601_141933456

For my body, I got the Sunflower Body Wash (250ml) from Starrize. It has a mild floral scent that I’m really liking! Next is the Lemon Peel Body Lotion (30ml), also from Starrize. It has a very refreshing, bitter lemon peel fragrance 😀

IMG_20150601_184737257

For my hair, I have got the Hibiscus Anti-Dandruff Hair Cleanser / Shampoo (30ml) and the Vitamin Hair Conditioner (30ml), both from Foressence. The shampoo has a very herbal, slightly hibiscus-y smell, and the conditioner has a mild, pleasant smell.

Top Grossing Movies of Last 6 Decades

Hello people!

Today I bring you, the highest grossing Bollywood movies of the last six decades. I’m sure you know about most of them already! 😀

  1. 2001-10 – 3 Idiots (2009)

Earnings: 202 crore INR

At Current Rupee Value (CRV): 280.78 crore INR

All izz well with 3 Idiots. This movie talks about the pressure faced by students in their endeavours to live up to parents’ expectations. No wonder this movie had a huge following in populous countries like China (Yes, I asked strangers on Omegle 😛 ) and India where getting into a reputed engineering college parallels Nirvana!

  1. 1991-2000 – Hum Aapke Hain Koun (1994)

Earnings: 69.75 crore INR

At CRV: 229.47 crore INR

The Salman Khan, before he started kicking villains into the stratosphere, was a family guy.  This movie had a big, happy family, lots of sanskar, and you guessed it right, Alok Nath! In fact, this movie was a handbook to Indian family, marriage and traditions 😉

  1. 1981-90 – Maine Pyar Kiya (1989)

Earnings: 14 crore INR

At CRV: 73.92 crore INR

This decade was perhaps the dry era of Bollywood. Amitabh Bachchan’s star was fading and no other superstar was in sight. That’s when Sooraj Barjatya gave us this movie with the right doses of dosti, pyaar, sanskaar and Alok Nath!

Ps. let’s not forget Salman’s dancing skills 😉

  1. 1971-80 – Sholay (1975)

Earnings: 15 crore INR

At CRV: 193.35 crore INR

Two conmen (best friends Jai and Viru), summoned by a self-righteous former cop to kill a notorious dacoit. This was the epic Sholay. With a stellar cast, this is probably the only movie where the side characters became just as famous. Samba, Kalia, Thakur and Dhanno (yes!) are legends today.

  1. 1961-70 – Sangam (1964)

Earnings: 4 crore INR

At CRV: 156.6 crore INR

You may not have heard about this movie, but Sangam was the big daddy of love triangles, made by the big daddy of Indian cinema, Raj Kapoor. Foreign locations, romance, huge budget and a long running time – it all began with Sangam!

  1. 1951-60 – Mughal-E-Azam (1960)

Earnings: 5.5 crore INR

At CRV: 253.5 crore INR

Although apparently historically inaccurate, Mughal-e-azam was the most opulent, extravagant and larger-than-life movie ever created. Such was the scale that it took 16 years to be made. Here’s a gif to sum up the movie the best.

Akbar was pissed and Anarkali couldn’t care less 😉

All gifs have been made by me using gifyoutube 🙂
