Feeling Fresh and Springy!

Hey lovelies! ❤

It’s been a long break but I shall be more regular now 🙂 Seeing the title of this post, I’m sure you must be thinking about the spring season 😀

It is definitely spring here in Mumbai and today, I’m sharing one of my favourite looks for the season!

A little background: I got this amazing high-low dress from Limeroad a few months ago, styled it and prepared this post. But I can’t believe I forgot to share it with you all 😮

So here goes!

#FromWhereIStand  🙂

The outfit:

Details:

I went for minimal makeup (my fav!), with winged liner and bold pink lips. Small black studs, and hair pulled back in a high ponytail. Added my staple leather watch (Tissot) and dog tag chains to complete the look!

Product Review: Lakme Absolut Face Stylist Blush Duos (Pink Blush)

Hello dear readers! ❤

Today I am back with a product review, and it’s from Lakme again 😉

I wanted to try this product since long, so I thought I should review it for you guys too! It is the Lakme Absolut Face Stylist Blush Duos in the Pink Blush shade.

I ordered it from Jabong where it is priced at INR 600/- against the market price of INR 750/- !!

You can order it here 😀

The packaging is nothing fancy, and looks quite compact as seen below. It comes with a small applicator brush which can be travel-friendly only if you carry the whole box 😐

IMG_20151128_130650886IMG_20151128_130741855

The brush has really fine hair and is smooth to the touch. But quite honestly, I found it too tiny to be held correctly 😦IMG_20151128_130934906

IMG_20151128_131100407

Here comes the blush compact:

IMG_20151128_131235659

Aren’t the colours simply beautiful? 🙂

IMG_20151128_131318308

So here goes the swatch:

Please note that I prepped my hand before applying the blush, so that the color pops. But I realised that the blush is quite pale and requires a number of strokes for the colour to build up.

Also, the texture of the blush product seems silky, almost like talc. But upon application, it feels chalky 😦

First swatch taken inside the house:

Second swatch taken in natural light:

IMG_20151128_133105265

Here’s how it looked on me!

IMG_20151128_144352302

I know what you’re thinking – where’s the blush?! 😛

But yes, I am wearing it in this picture. It doesn’t play up well despite a number of applications. And I was afraid to add more strokes as I was beginning to look like a flamingo off-camera 😛

My Verdict:

This isn’t a great purchase. I might use it times of need, but I’d advise you to check out some other options too. Also, it wasn’t very visible on my complexion but it might suit fair ladies 🙂

Until next time,

Shruti xx

Product Review: Lakme 9 to 5 Toffee Nexus Lipstick

Hey ladies!

Today after a long break, I am back with a product review 🙂

It’s the Lakme 9 to 5 Lipstick in the shade of Toffee Nexus (YUMMY NAME!)

I ordered it from Jabong where it is priced at INR 360/- against the market price of INR 450/- !!

You can order it here 😀

The product comes packaged in a peachy pink card box, with silver lettering. Looks simple and elegant; I like it! 🙂

IMG_20151128_125456830IMG_20151128_125605241

The lipstick has a rose gold metallic body which looks rich and sophisticated. It is slightly rounded at the middle, giving it a cute chubby look 😀IMG_20151128_125739801

Here is the Toffee Nexus lipstick:IMG_20151128_130028195

SO GOOD! ❤IMG_20151128_130113103

Let’s take a look at the shade 🙂IMG_20151128_130402071

This is how it looks on my inner arm. I find it to be a very beautiful shade 🙂
IMG_20151128_130516389IMG_20151128_130543682

The texture of this Lakme 9 to 5 lipstick is quite creamy, and it is well tinted. I have pigmented lips and I could see that the colour had built up well with the first swipe itself. The second coat helped to play up the colour better!

Now for the drawbacks – The lipstick has a medicine-like smell. But I’m not sure if that’s the case with the entire range, or just my lipstick :/ The smell diffuses after a minute of wearing the lipstick.

Secondly, I feel that this lipstick  doesn’t have much staying power. Its creaminess makes it come off at the slightest contact with anything, be it a mug, straw, tissue etc. I liked the shade better, after blotting with a tissue 😛

This is how it looks on me (blotted):
PhotoGrid_1448800620223

My Verdict:

Sooo, I did say that toffee Nexus is a beautiful shade of lip colour. BUT, I’m afraid that it doesn’t flatter my dusky complexion. The swatch looked pretty on my arm, but my face is darker in comparison. I’m sure it will look great on fairer complexions 🙂

Nevertheless, Toffee Nexus will definitely be my go-to lipstick for a nude look 😀

Into the House of Naari

Hello, my lovely readers!

Today is my birthday, and I’m really happy with the way things are going with Mirrors and Dreams. Thanks and much love to every one of you for your support! ❤

Tonight, I want to share an exciting field trip I had earlier this month. I had the fortune of being invited for a bloggers’ meet by the renowned maker of ethnic wear, the House of Naari  🙂

It didn’t take them much to convince me and I gladly jumped aboard 😀

I dressed up in a bright-coloured salwaar kameez and embellished footwear for the day. I kept my makeup minimal (as I usually like it 😉 ). Take a look:
IMG_20151024_112910509IMG_20151024_112648929IMG_20151024_112413859We reached the Naari production unit after a brief train journey to Boisar. The travel was short and fun, and I spent time chatting with our friendly hosts. Upon reaching the unit, we were greeted with a breakfast buffet. I gorged on Aloo Parathas (Indian bread with flavoured potato filling) like there’s no tomorrow  😀

Post breakfast was the bloggers’ conference. The CEO of Naari, Arjun introduced us to the brand and the Head Designer of Naari, Fatema unveiled their fresh collection. You can see her take the floor below:
IMG_20151024_115320981

She introduced us to their latest Festive line, filled with folk motifs, lush colours and varying textures that suit different moods.

You can see the vibrant rabadi folk embroidery on the kurtas below:
IMG_20151024_115435166IMG_20151024_115625662-01

We also saw some gorgeous Madhubani embroidery on the kurtas, replete with Madhubani motifs like fish, flowers and birds. Pictures below:IMG_20151024_115714909IMG_20151024_115832348

A particular collection called Tree of Life grabbed eyeballs. It was characterised by symbols like tendrils, birds, trees and ,mesmerising ombre colour schemes 🙂
IMG_20151024_115948494

We also saw some casual cotton kurtas for daily wear. They were clean, light and sophisticated 🙂
IMG_20151024_120235412

This one was my favourite from the cotton line ❤IMG_20151024_120858306

Overall, I was quite impressed with this collection for the simple reasons that the clothing is vibrant, suits every occasion and is budget-friendly 😎
IMG_20151024_120955119From embroidery to ombre, Naari has used a spectrum of techniques to create unique products. For example, this digital print dupatta with an unstitched Lucknowi embriodered kurta:
IMG_20151024_121139929 Look at this burst of colours!IMG_20151024_121022376IMG_20151024_121113399IMG_20151024_124129467

We also took a look at their collection of handbags, and these sling bags were my favourites!

IMG_20151024_130419957IMG_20151024_130353260

During my chat with Arjun, he revealed that long before Naari was born in 2008, they have been supplying fabric to top brands like H&M, Only, Zara and Vero Moda for decades. Filled with ideas and fervour about the upcoming collections, Arjun was fun to talk to!IMG_20151024_124456677
The conference was followed by a first-hand tour of the factory by Arjun. I CANT EXPLAIN HOW AMAZING IT WAS!

IMG_20151024_142303369
IMG_20151024_131058461IMG_20151024_131343447

These embroidery machines were 22 metres long, and with 2 frames, they produce 44 metres of garment in one go! 😮

IMG_20151024_132020091

Look at this sequin work that happens side by side with the embroidery:

The Tree of Life in the production stage:IMG_20151024_141606404A little souvenir from the Naari factory! 🙂IMG_20151024_133902455

IMG_20151024_135350800I was amazed at the sheer brilliance of the production unit! EVERYTHING is produced from scratch, including the fabric and the sequins! You can see sequins in production below:IMG_20151024_135322291We also took a tour of the quality check unit, where every inch of fabric is screened for defects, and every fabric sample goes through TEN quality checks:
IMG_20151024_135656757And finally, the packaging:IMG_20151024_141129955

Look at the various kinds of white garment fabrics I spotted across the factory ❤IMG_20151024_132847777IMG_20151024_133049045IMG_20151024_134215361IMG_20151024_135727109
I was simply stunned by this force called Naari. I am thankful to them for giving me glimpses into their intricate workings and the hard work that goes into producing every garment! You can browse their collection here and follow them on Facebook!

Watch this space for an upcoming shoot with Naari 😉

Until then, love from Shruti xx
